Installing arp-scan from source:

The required tools:

  • apt install git build-essential autoconf

The prerequisites:

  • apt install libpcap-dev

Get the source:

  • git clone https://github.com/royhills/arp-scan.git

Build it:

  • cd arp-scan
  • autoreconf --install
  • ./configure
  • make

Test it:

  • make check

Install it:

  • sudo make install

Use it:

This example does a basic full scan of my /22 network

  • arp-scan 192.168.8.0/22
