When you run a public-facing Wiki, it's kinda handy to let users create their own accounts.
But...
You need to control what they can do.
Enabling the "Create Account" link for non logged-in users.
sudo vi LocalSettings.php
:
Set:
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount'] = true;
